This is a fast growing restio, growing to a height of 0.4m and width of 0.6m – ideal size for a smaller garden. It has bright green stems with beautiful, feathery golden brown bracts in Spring which become dark brown seed heads in late Spring to early summer. They enjoy damp, marshy positions and prefer being planted in groups of 3 or more.

This is a tall species growing to a height of 1.75-2.5m. The female flowers are the more attractive, consisting of tiny, white flowers during the flowering season. The mature stems are very popular in the cut flower industry with their bamboo-like appearance. This species is also used in the making of brooms, because of their short, multi-branched stems and wiry texture.
